I stopped playing Benevolent White Man and became a better doctor. But on a cold Manhattan afternoon, a weary seventeen-year-old girl who was having her third kid with a third father looked me straight in the eye and spoke an indisputable truth: "You don't know my life." I would look down from on high and bestow upon patients the knowledge of how self-destructive their behavior was.

"I was hoping you could tell her with me." "Not yet." She squirmed and looked almost all her fourteen years. "He loves me," this fourteen-year-old told me. They talk about birth control and abstinence and that's all fine and good, but the truth is, their cool friends are having babies and their friends are getting all kinds of attention and so, hey, Terrell, why not us?

The thing that always surprises me - always - is that most of these pregnancies are not accidental. I don't particularly like doing it out in the suburbs with soccer moms and manicured dads and, well, people like me. Many people believe this makes me a bleeding-heart do-gooder. We serve a Medicaid (read: poor) population with general family health care, including obstetrics, internal medicine, and, of course, pediatrics. I've been a pediatrician at this Washington Heights clinic since I finished my residency at nearby Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center five years ago. This was not the first time I'd seen a pregnant teen. She also had braces and was fourteen years old and. She had brown eyes and kinky hair and a toothy smile. Dr Beck is on the run while being hunted down from all quarters as he fights against all odds to find Elizabeth.Another girl was about to break my heart.

Beck’s live changed forever and he apparently knows what really happened that night. But far away from all the hullaballoo in the city, a man frequents the woods near the ominous lake where Dr. The latter is coincidently also worried about the sudden emergence of Elizabeth from the grave! He not only wants Elizabeth to stay dead but is even ready to murder Dr Beck in the process. Not far from the chaos, two men torture and murder someone gruesomely under orders from their wealthy boss. At that very juncture Beck gets an anonymous email with a link that suddenly broadcasts the live feed of his wife ! Is she really back from the dead? The investigators on the other hand suddenly become hell bent on cornering Dr Beck for not only the murder of his wife but those unidentified men too. But all that topples when two men are found murdered and buried near the same lake where his wife was abducted. Unable to leave behind that dreadful night, he moves along a mundane life for eight long years reliving the horrors of that fateful night over and over again. The story is about David Beck who lost the love of his life, Elizabeth, in a kidnapping and murder.
